Checks for virus fever commence from today Tuesday 10.03.20
From Today, virus fever will be measured in Carinthia and Tyrol at the border crossings to Italy. This is intended to prevent the introduction of the corona virus from the particularly badly affected area in northern Italy.
In Carinthia, punctual and unannounced inspections are carried out several times a week in the districts of Hermagor and Villach-Land. A ten-strong mobile team will be deployed there. A representative of the authorities will measure the temperature, eight police officers will be responsible for traffic management measures and escorting and, if necessary, the exercise of official authority and coercive force. A medical officer is authorized to take smears.
As of Today, two mobile health check teams will be on the Brenner in Tyrol – on the motorway, state road and in train traffic – as well as at the Sillian and Reschenpass borders and will carry out selective health checks. In addition to random temperature measurements, those affected also have to answer standard questions, such as whether the journey was started from a risk area and whether the controlled people have flu-like symptoms.
Even without controls, traffic from Austria to Italy has decreased significantly in the past few days, Asfinag reported.
