Austria, 2,590 new cases in the last 24 hours!

In the last 24 hours, Austria has reported 2,590 new cases of corona virus. For a country with a small population of 8.5 million, this is quite high!

In Austria, 2,590 new Corona infections have been registered within 24 hours (as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday). This is above the seven-day average of 2,334 cases. The seven-day incidence was 182.9 cases per 100,000 population. Sixteen people died with or from Corona during the period, according to Health and Interior Ministry figures.

As of Tuesday, there were 23,174 active cases of corona in Austria, up 1,003 from Monday. Since the pandemic began, 780,269 confirmed cases have already occurred in Austria. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, 745,899 people have recovered; within the past 24 hours, 1,571 were considered healthy again.
16 deaths

Sixteen deaths have occurred since yesterday, with a seven-day daily average of 10.9. 76 deaths have been recorded in the past seven days. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 11,196 lives in Austria since the outbreak.

There were 934 people in hospital on Tuesday, 20 more than had been reported on Monday. 219 people were being cared for in intensive care units. This number did not change since yesterday and has increased by one patient within a week.

A total of 488,444 tests were reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, 215,261 were meaningful PCR tests. All told, we now stand at 116,748,811 Corona tests performed. The positive rate of PCR tests was 1.2 percent. This 24-hour figure is below last week’s average (an average of 1.6 percent of PCR tests positive).

Austria is also starting a programme of isolating certain areas, and Police are checking that people visiting the next door county have been fully vaccinated or have a negative test.
