Zurpost a hotel since 1415, has seen many changes through the centuries. It started out as a 'Post Inn'. This was for the mail coaches to change their horses and for travellers to eat and stay over night.

The Hotel Zurpost is in the Mozart village of St Gilgen which is on Lake Wolfgang. The village is approximately 35 minutes drive from Salzburg and there is a regular bus service to the village which is top of most people's "must see list" because of its connection with Mozart. His mother was born and lived in the village. His sister Nannerl was married in the local church and held her wedding & lunch at the Zurpost Hotel.

It is now a four star hotel with all the luxury you would expect, yet retains all the old world charm of yesteryear. An example of this are the 600 year old wine cellars. The hotel hosts wine tasting from its extensive range of fine Austrian wines, both red and white.

The hotel is situated in the centre of the village opposite the town hall. The lake is 5 minutes walk as is the cable car to the Zwolferhorn mountain. This makes it attractive to many walkers and skiers. For those that enjoy exercise there is a cycle path all the way round the lake from St Gilgen to St Wolfgang. There are also many walks through the valley and up along side the mountain

The hotel has 32 rooms equipped with bath and / or shower, WC, hairdryer, telephone and satellite TV. The majority come with a refrigerator, safe, seating area and balcony. From most there are panoramic views to the mountains and across the lake.

The hotel is renowned locally for its excellent cuisine. As it Specializes in many regional dishes people come from all over the area to spend an evening in the restaurant enjoying the food and local fine wines.
